When I was in college I tried highlighters. I tried other colors but yellow was the one for me. That is not surprising since I had a very strong preference for writing on yellow legal pads. When I was studying from books or class notes on white paper I hightlighted in yellow. But, I did not just highlight the most important points. I started with that, but I found myself continuing to highlight until I soon had the entire page highlighted and it was so much easier to understand. To see an extremely helpful illustration see pages 147-154 of the Updated Edition of Reading by the Colors by Helen Irlen. By trying to read each page you can quickly determine if you will benefit from using a tinted filter. To see what I mean go to the official Irlen website at www.irlen.com.Note: Find this feature toward the upper right of the page. It says “Change background color to see how color can help you.”
